Orientation
A short foundation for using the Academy: how to learn, how to verify, and how to protect private information.
How the Academy works
Choose a District pathway for practical development or an NVU course for focused study. Read the outcome, work through lessons, build the deliverables, and reflect on what changed. Keep your work privately on your own device; this site has no submission form or learner account.
Catalogs and outlines are open. Orientation opens the materials for pathways 02–07 and the workbook library in this browser. Community Impact Lab materials are available through a facilitated project.
The source-first standard
Separate facts, authority, interpretation, assumptions and unresolved questions. Identify jurisdiction and the source hierarchy. Check publication dates and currentness; look for material contrary authority. AI output and social commentary are starting points for inquiry, not substitutes for verified sources.
General educational examples do not establish that a filing, notice, trust, affidavit or status declaration creates an automatic legal result. Individualized high-stakes questions require appropriately qualified professional review.
Privacy and respectful learning
- Use hypothetical or thoroughly redacted examples.
- Never share passwords, government identifiers, account numbers, full credit reports, medical records, confidential client files or private legal/family records.
- Keep sensitive planning worksheets privately. Evidence should show learning without revealing the underlying private details.
- Share only what you have permission to share. Avoid pressure, unsolicited promotions and commercial solicitation.
- You can reflect privately; public posting or a purchase is not required.
Complete the learning pattern

- 04Share / Reflect
- 05Next Step
Learn a concept. Apply it to a low-risk exercise. Keep evidence of your work. Share a privacy-safe reflection, or reflect privately. Identify the next action.
Completion describes demonstrated educational work rather than attendance or a browser button.

Acknowledge orientation.
The acknowledgment is honor-based. Only an orientation flag is saved locally in this browser; it is not sent to us. It does not record course completion. Clearing browser storage resets it.
